Introductions
Hi kids and families, this Mrs. Larson and I welcome you into my Social Studies domain. This is my first teaching assignment and I am excited to act as "tour guide" to your student as we explore the past.
First, let me tell you a little about myself. I have lived in our community for twelve years and received my Bachelor degree in Social Science from Chapman University and my teaching credential and Master in Educational Technology from National University Fresno. I am mad about Medieval history which is perfect since that is the big focus of seventh grade history. It also means that my classroom is a laboratory of exploration that uses technology your child is probably already immersed in. Devices are not only welcome but have an integral role in connecting members of this learning community to the past and reconnecting it to the present. Here, we touch, feel, think about, evaluate, and apply history to relevant events and issues today. Students will be communicating by voice and blog and social networks that are encased in the purpose and direction of this class.
It should be clear I am passionate about the subject I teach. That passion extends to my love of writing and storytelling as well as drawing and painting with pastels. My husband and I love to travel with our Aussie, Luna and I will certainly be sharing my "artifacts" of places we have been.
Before earning my credential, I worked as a guest teacher for the Kings County Office of Education which allowed me to garner experience with children of all grades K-12 and in a variety of circumstances. Before that I spent ten years as an Instructional Aide for Special Education Services.
